Baby Mason

Dear Mason (aka: CuddleBun),
You passed away today after a year-and-a-half battle with your health. You only lived to be 4 and a half, but in that time you managed to continually amaze me with your bravery and courage. You were always so very sweet and gentle, and I loved the way that you would "melt" against me whenever I held you. When Kim (from Brambley Hedge) told me about you, I knew that you had to be mine. I took you and your sister, Maddie, into my home, and you IMMEDIATELY hopped into my heart. Shortly after I welcomed you into my life, I became very ill, and you were right there with me. You slept in my bed with me, cuddled softly against me, and enjoyed chewing on my TV remote, as well.
 Cujo (one of the dogs) loved looking after you while you were in your last few days. Whenever anyone went near your cage, he was right there, making sure that we were taking good care of you. He loved cleaning your face since he knew that you no longer could, and he looked everywhere for you when I got home from the animal hospital today. And of course Maddie misses you. She actually allowed me to console her today. You know how stubborn she can be. She looked all over for you when we got home. I'm not sure if she understands yet or not. She and Gracie said their "good-byes" to you at the hospital. They both laid their heads on your side, and nuzzled your face.
I will miss the way that you would groom yourself whenever I rubbed the inside of your ears. I will miss your sweet spirit and gentle loving ways. Whenever I was stressed out, Daddy knew that he could bring you to me, and I would cheer right up.
We will always love and miss you, but we know that you are in a better place. There, your head is straight, your eyes can see, and your feet don't hurt. You have all the bananas, strawberries, honey treats, and soft blankets you can imagine. I bet you're already sprawled out on the cool grass enjoying the warm sunshine...
